Polarium Completes its First-Ever BESS Installation in Japan
22nd March, 2024Polarium, a leading provider of energy storage solutions, is proud to announce the successful completion of its first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation in Japan. Polarium has commissioned a 1 MWh BESS at a prominent Agricultural Facility in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima, located in southern Japan, for Iwatec Corporation.
The BESS installation represents a fusion of innovation, comprising nine Polarium 115kWh High-Voltage (HV) indoor racks and solar PV arrays, all integrated into a unique microgrid system. This robust setup not only ensures reliable energy storage but also optimizes the utilization of renewable energy sources, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future for the region.
Through the use of solar systems and now Polarium’s BESS, Iwatec’s affiliate company, Iwatec Agriculture will commence production of premium customer-grade shiitake mushrooms in April, 2024. The factory serves as a model for sustainable farming practices, ensuring the consistent quality of its products but also contributing to the preservation of the local ecosystem – with potential applications in various industrial sectors.
