Sustainable Sourcing Practices

Sustainable Sourcing Practices

We are committed to working together with our suppliers towards a long-term sustainable future. Our approach to sustainable sourcing is instrumental in ensuring that we deliver on our business objectives while making a positive social impact on the people in our supply chain and protecting the surrounding environments.

This is how we ensure that we source responsibly

Supplier Code of Conduct (SCoC)
Our Supplier Code of Conduct forms the foundation of every supplier relationship. Signing the SCoC is a prerequisite for any collaboration with Polarium. The SCoC is a living document, reviewed and updated annually to reflect evolving standards and requirements. Supplier Code of Conduct

Risk Categorization

  • Supplier Segmentation:
Suppliers are categorized based on business criticality

Audits

  • Audit Program:
Regular audits are conducted across our supply chain to strengthen supplier relationships and ensure compliance. Suppliers receive support to address identified issues and meet Polarium’s requirements.
  • Annual Assessments:
Suppliers of cells, components, and minerals are assessed annually using an internal risk categorization, providing vital insights into their performance.
  • Corrective Actions:
In rare cases of non-compliance, a corrective action plan is issued.

Responsible Minerals Initiative

  • Indirect Sourcing:
While Polarium does not source minerals directly, some products that we source may contain raw materials such as mica, lithium, or cobalt. We are committed to ensuring these minerals are sourced ethically and responsibly.
  • RMI Alignment:
Since 2022, we have expanded our responsible minerals sourcing process, assessing relevant suppliers against the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) standards (RMI’s. RMI requirements are also embedded in our SCoC.
  • Reporting & Due Diligence:
We collect annual responses from direct suppliers using the RMI’s EMRT and CMRT templates.

Evolving Regulatory Compliance:
To comply with the EU Battery Regulation’s requirement on supply chain due diligence, we will further strengthen our supplier due diligence efforts in the coming years.
