Polarium to Deliver Advanced Energy Storage Solutions for VAROPreem’s Next-Generation Fast Charging Initiative
11th March, 2026Polarium, a leading developer of energy storage solutions, has signed a strategic partnership with VAROPreem, formerly Preem, to provide intelligent energy storage solutions that enable efficient and scalable fast charging at VAROPreem service stations across Sweden. The collaboration represents an important step in developing robust EV infrastructure for both heavy and light vehicles, supporting VAROPreem’s ambition to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport.
VAROPreem, one of Sweden’s largest fuel distributors, is now expanding its public EV charging network by integrating Polarium’s battery and energy storage systems at selected locations. Polarium’s solution combines modular Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with advanced Energy Management System (EMS) functionality to deliver high-power charging even where grid connections are limited.
Polarium’s energy storage solutions will be delivered and installed at VAROPreem sites over the coming years, creating a flexible and future-proof platform for fast charging. Through the integrated Power Boost feature, the charging stations can draw more energy than the existing grid connection allows for short periods, enabling faster and more reliable charging – especially during peak demand.
“We are proud to be chosen as the technical partner for VAROPreem’s EV infrastructure expansion,” said Pontus Winberg, EVP Residential and C&I at Polarium. “Our solution helps meet the growing demand for fast charging while supporting stable and sustainable energy systems for the transport sector.”
By combining traditional fuels with attractive and efficient EV charging, VAROPreem is taking the next step in its electrification strategy. Polarium’s energy storage systems also enable better integration of renewable energy into the charging network and provide a robust, operationally reliable infrastructure ready for the future of transport.
“Working with Polarium on this important initiative is very exciting. Incorporating stand‑alone batteries into our concept provides an effective tool for managing capacity tariffs, overcoming constraints related to high‑capacity grid connections, and increasing the flexibility we can offer our depot customers — including the ability to offer shorter contract terms and lower minimum monthly energy commitments. Ultimately, Polarium’s technology and expertise are essential to our vision of enabling convenient and reliable charging for both heavy‑duty and passenger vehicles, on the road and at depot locations throughout Sweden.” said Tobias Henmark at VAROPreem, Head of e‑Mobility”.
Polarium continues to be a leading player in EV infrastructure development by offering tailored energy solutions that enable fast, reliable, and future-proof charging for fleets, commercial sites, and public locations.
