Polarium sharpens strategic focus after year of transformation

11th August, 2026

Polarium is strengthening its strategic direction with a sharper focus on telecom power and distributed energy storage, as the company continues to improve margins and position itself for long-term growth.

The new direction builds on Polarium’s long-standing expertise in telecom power solutions, combined with its software platform for aggregating distributed battery capacity into virtual power plants. This expertise is increasingly valuable as the global energy system changes rapidly, driven by more renewable power, growing electricity demand and increasing pressure on electricity grids.

Polarium continues to sharpen its strategic focus in response to structural changes in the market, building on the transformation initiated in 2025. As part of this shift, the company is adapting its organization, capabilities and cost base to strengthen the areas with the greatest profitability and growth potential. Polarium is also strengthening its presence in local markets and moving closer to key suppliers.

“We are now focusing our organization on the areas where we are strongest and where demand is most tangible: telecom and distributed energy storage. The need for energy storage is growing fast, but conventional large-scale battery projects often take many years to develop. Through our customers’ existing sites, we can create distributed storage capacity in months rather than years and help our customers turn underutilized grid capacity into new revenues. This is where Polarium can make a real difference,” says Leif Ottosson, CEO of Polarium.

2025 was marked by continued transformation in a challenging market environment. Net sales amounted to SEK 896 million, compared with SEK 1,332 million in 2024. At the same time, Polarium improved gross profit to SEK 114 million from SEK -46 million and narrowed its EBITDA loss to SEK 61 million from SEK 270 million. The company also laid the foundation for a more focused business, including significant investments in its distributed energy systems offering.

Polarium expects strategic focus and continued efficiency measures to support continued margin improvement and a clearer path towards profitability, while positioning the company to capture growing demand for resilient telecom power and flexible energy storage solutions.

“2025 was a year of improvements and important steps to strengthen Polarium’s foundation and future capabilities. With a sharper strategic focus, a reduced cost base, improved margins, and revenues from our distributed energy systems offering expected from the third quarter of 2026, we are better positioned to capture several attractive opportunities ahead,” says Ottosson.
